Brighton Beach Wedding

We love beach wedding photography, and Claire-Louise and Hamilton had dreamed of a beach wedding “Down-Under” for a long time. That made us a perfect fit! In December, they and their family flew out to Melbourne from the U.K. and made their Brighton beach wedding dream come true!

The beautiful Brighton Savoy hotel was chosen as the venue for this intimate occasion, with the ceremony to be held on the lawn at the Brighton Beach. The reception was held in the Seaview Terrace room at the hotel, which offers 180 degree views of the bay, and is west facing so the guests can enjoy the sunset over the ocean.

An early start for Claire-Louise saw her hair and makeup being done at Toni & Guy in Brighton, followed by her makeup at Mecca Cosmetica. Then it was off to The Savoy to ensure that all the preparations were in place. The weather forecast for this beautiful beach wedding wasn’t exactly as Claire-Louise had imagined. Windy change with a possible storm was the outlook, and that left the location of the ceremony up in the air until the last minute. Fortunately for Claire and Hamilton, Melbourne had other ideas about the weather for this wonderful wedding, and decided to prove the weather man wrong. The only part the forecaster got right was the windy bit – and that meant they could go ahead with their beach front wedding ceremony.

An early afternoon ceremony with quite a strong wind blowing made for tough conditions for wedding photography, and indeed for everyone! However the sun was shining, and the staff at the hotel had done a wonderful job in setting up the ceremony area for the wedding. Despite the challenging conditions the wedding was just perfect! Once the formalities had concluded, the whole wedding came down to the beach, and family shots were taken using the beautiful Brighton bathing boxes as backdrop. Of course, the one that everyone wanted in their picture was the one with the Union Jack on it!
Beach wedding photography locations are abundant in Melbourne. Brighton would have to be one of our favourites, though! We are so lucky that Claire and Hamilton spent some time with us on the beach and we were really happy with the results, despite being blown off our feet by the wind!

The reception was held in the Seaview Terrace room of The Savoy, a lovely little room that will fit smaller wedding parties up to 50 people. The 180 degree view of the bay is simply stunning, and if you get a sunset boy does it look good. As the sun when down, we took Claire-Louise and Hamilton back over to the beach for some more wedding photography, and their little flower girls jumped in for a few shots as well. Those two little cuties were Claire and Hamilton’s nieces, and they were thoroughly chuffed to be a part of the wedding day here in Melbourne. Even though they’d had a very big day, they were still dancing when we left the wedding late in the evening!

We were proud to have been chosen to take wedding photos for this gorgeous couple, and had a wonderful time throughout the day. We wish them all the best for their future life together!
