MELBOURNE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
INDIAN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY IN MELBOURNE
Indian wedding photography in Melbourne often takes on a different, yet somehow similar form than its subcontinental counterpart. Like all weddings, each and every one is different. In India, wedding traditions vary greatly by region. There are some unifying features, however. All the Indian weddings we have been involved in so far (both in Melbourne and in Rajastan, India) have been colourful, dynamic and filled with love and laughter!
TRADITIONAL HINDU WEDDINGS
Karishma and Tristan put their own twist on theirs, spreading it out over a couple of weekends. A traditional Hindu wedding can go for up to five days straight! We were delighted to be their photographers for two of their special days. Their families were so excited that this gorgeous couple was finally tying the knot. Many of their friends had not been to Indian weddings previously and were delighted by the traditions.
SETTING THE STAGE
The first part of Karishma and Tristan’s Indian wedding was held at The Grand on Princes, a gorgeous venue that have a wonderful team of staff that are experts at Indian and Hindu wedding ceremonies. They prepared a traditional mandap that looked like something straight out of a wonderful Bollywood film. The detail was exquisite, and the red and gold royal chairs for the bride and groom were something to behold. Statues of Ganesh surrounded the mandap, and royal-red carpet adorned the floor for the lucky couple. The venue’s chandeliers provided a gorgeous backdrop for the beginning of their wedding festivities.
The traditions were approached with much joy and enthusiasm by all the guests. Our research combined with our conversations ensured that we were ready to capture every aspect of the ceremonies. Special parts of the night make great action shots.
